Created for walkers, outdoor enthusiasts, history lovers and those seeking a genuine escape from modern life, High Hallgarth offers an authentic off-grid experience where heritage, tranquillity and nature take centre stage. Full of original character, traditional features and timeless Lakeland charm, it is a place to leave the pressures of everyday life behind and reconnect with what really matters.

Although wonderfully secluded, High Hallgarth has been thoughtfully equipped to ensure a warm and comfortable stay. After a day exploring the fells, return to the glow of the log-burning stove, prepare a hearty meal in the fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, enjoy the comfort of hot running water, electric heaters, and sink into cosy, comfortable beds for a restful night's sleep.

Sympathetically preserved to honour its rich history, the cottage features an eco-friendly composting toilet and no internal bathroom, allowing guests to experience a traditional Lakeland cottage much as it has been enjoyed for generations.

Leave your car in the nearby parking, after driving down the bumpy country lane and enjoy the short walk to the cottage, leaving the noise and distractions of everyday life behind. On your way, you can head to the local village shop in Great Langdale where you can stock up on all your holiday essentials before settling into your peaceful retreat. Once you arrive, it's time to switch off, shut out the outside world and immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquillity of the surrounding fells.

Stay Your Way

We offer a minimum stay of 3 nights, giving you plenty of time to slow down, switch off and experience everything High Hallgarth and the beautiful Little Langdale Valley have to offer.

Our Basic Stay starts from £150 per night and is perfect for those who are happy to bring their own bed linen and towels. It's a simple, affordable option that also helps reduce water and energy use, supporting our commitment to sustainable tourism and regenerative farming.

For guests looking for a little extra comfort, we also offer a Linen Package for an additional £50 per stay, with freshly made beds and towels ready for your arrival.

We're delighted to welcome well-behaved dogs, who are very much part of the adventure. Dogs are welcome for an additional £20 per stay.
